China’s LPG storage capacity is to almost double this year as the country’s imports grow, spurring investment in terminal facilities. Refrigerated storage capacity will rise by 1.6mn t, or 75pc, to 3.78mn t by the end of this year in line with the opening of fve import terminals, mainly built to accommodate growing petrochemical feedstock needs. Capacity was around 2.2mn t in 2019, Argus estimates, while imports hit a record 20.5mn t, customs data show. More than 90pc of this LPG arrived on board very large gas carriers (VLGCs).
