NKK has developed methods of BOG (boil-off gas) simulation needed to operate LNG terminal. When the LNG density in the feeding ship is different from that in the tank with which it is feeding, the possible increase in BOG rate in the tank should be simulated in order to determine how to operate the LNG terminal. In this paper, it is revealed that the BOG simulation results are consistent with measured data taken from an actual LNG terminal. These BOG simulation methods can greatly improve the efficiency and ease with which we handle these complex LNG terminals.
