NKK has developed a new automatic combustion control system for refuse incineration furnace, which reduces both CO and NOx concentration in exhaust gas and improves stability of steam flow from ancillary boiler facility. This control system has a hybrid structure of mathematical model based controller and fuzzy logic based controller to achieve target control characteristics. This control system has been installed to a newly designed Two way gas flow type hyper grate incinerator. Actual operation results shows outstanding control performance. This paper describes the major control functions of the system and actual operation results.
