Chinese imports of zinc concentrate continue to decline, falling 23% month on month in October to 147kt. Thedecline in imports over October has come in spite of China increasing its refined zinc production. China’s NationalBureau of Statistics (NBS) reported refined zinc production totalled 577kt during October, an increase of 7.4%month on month. It’s likely the decline in imports has been the result of higher domestic mine production andfalling treatment charges for imported concentrate. The higher domestic production also resulted in refined zincimports into China falling 21% month on month to 61kt in October.
