Galvanising Capacity on the Rise

Refined zinc imports into China totalled 68kt in July, an increase of 63% month on month. The primary source ofrefined zinc was Australia with 37% of the total, followed by Kazakhstan and India, which contributed 18%, and14%, respectively. The rise is being driven by demand from galvanising steel plants. This was highlighted inChina’s Steel PMI which rose from 54.9 in July to 57.2 in Augus t as producers increased production to chaserising steel prices.
