New suits with Velcro for hospital patients could spell the beginning of the end of the traditional backless gown.Birmingham Children's Hospital Foundation Trust is rolling out the bespoke-designed suits across its wards.The wrap-around suits, designed and made by UK company Fashion at Work, have Velcro button fastenings along the seams, doing away with the flimsy tie-backs of traditional backless gowns. They are the first of their kind to be used in UK hospitals.The two-piece outfit has a short-sleeved top and cut-off trousers, and comes in eight sizes to fit babies up to teenagers.
