In recent years, electric motors with low noise and low vibration, which have little or no impact on the environment, have been become the de facto standard of electric motors. An unpleasant metallic noise, called "squeak noise", can be heard in the cylindrical roller bearings that are used in middle- and large-sized electric motors. Electric motor manufacturers have long requested those bearings be developed that would eliminate squeak noise. This paper reports on the results of our research, which focused on development of quieter cylindrical roller bearings and the suppression of squeak noise.
