'ROBUST Series' high-speed precision angular contact ball bearings for machine tool spindles

Recently, to prevent global warming and environmental pollution, all areas of industry are working to save energy and otherwise be more friendly to the earth's environment. In line with this trend, machine tools, which are used in processing components of automobiles, home appliances, office automation equipment and industrial machines, are required to operate at higher levels of productivity while saving energy and minimizing their environmental impact. Essentially, to satisfy this requirement, tool and main spindle speed must be increased while energy consumption is reduced. In this report, we first discuss the latest trends in machine tools, with reference to machines displayed at JIMTOF in October '98, and then present NSK's new ROBUST Series of high-speed precision angular contact ball bearings for the machine tool spindles of today and the 21st century.
