The sprag type OWC has always been a conventional automobile part of any automatic transmission (A/T). It is favored for its high torque capacity and durability under high vibration conditions. However, with the changes being incorporated into newly developed A/Ts, the operating conditions of the OWC are increasingly becoming severe. Limitations on space, increased vibrations, and demands for greater miniaturization and lighter weight have resulted in the development of our Roller Clutch with Plastic Cage. This new product by NSK has the following features: ·50% less drag in a common use environment as compared to a sprag type OWC · Secure target torque capacity and 100g mass reduction compared with the sprag type OWC · Vibration durability which is equivalent or superior to a sprag type OWC
