After this past year’s battle with Covid-19, Abu Dhabi’s nuclear regulator is looking forward to a new year of achievements, including the granting of an operating license for Barakah-2, hosting a major international emergency preparedness exercise, and concluding cooperation agreements with Saudi Arabia and South Korea. More than these specifc goals, the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (Fanr) is moving to solidify its role as a key player in the country’s efort to lead the region in commercial nuclear power development.
