Legislation introduced by Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) would have NASA establish a low-boom supersonic aircraft project designed to "demonstrate supersonic aircraft designs and technologies that reduce sonic boom noise to levels that encourage the repeal of domestic and international bans on supersonic flight overland and gather the data needed to support informed decisions of the Federal Aviation Administration regarding overland supersonic flight."
