Aviation Interests Challenge FAA-Santa Monica Agreement

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and five local aviation stakeholders filed a petition for review of the consent decree that formalizes the agreement between FAA and the City of Santa Monica, Calif., requiring the city to keep Santa Monica Airport (SMO) open for aviation use through Dec. 31, 2028, but allowing it to close the facility after that date and to shorten its single runway immediately.
