Annoyance attributed to noise is a predictor of anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbance, according to a study conducted at University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Mainz, Germany. Researchers investigated longitudinal data of more than 11,000 participants 35-74 years old in the Gutenberg Health Study and assessed noise annoyance initially (baseline) and five years later, including road, rail, aviation, industrial, and neighborhood noise, indoor and outdoor, day and night.
