Study on genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance in Dolichos bean (Lablabpurpureus L.) genotypes

The present investigation was carried out to study the genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance for 17 traits in dolichos bean. The experimental material comprised of 30 genotypes of dolichos bean (Lablab purpureus L.). Wider variabilitywas observed for number of pods per inflorescence, pod width, 100 seed weight, pod weight, pod length, days to first green pod harvest, vine length, green pod yield per plant, days to first flowering, seeds per pods, number of green pod picking, days tolast pod harvest All these characters also recorded high heritability and genetic advance. Hence, selection will be effective for these traits.
