Democratic 2020 Contenders Showing Little Affection for Gas Industry

More than 20 Democrats have launched campaigns to square off against President Donald Trump next year,and several contenders have released detailed energy blueprints.So far,those platforms don't offer much love for natural gas. Several have proposed bans on oil and gas leasing and the elimination of tax deductions prized by gas producers,and one candidate has proposed a crackdown on methane emissions from the gas industry.Others may roll out plans that are more moderate,but the proposals released to date seem more at odds with the industry than ever.This shift reflects a mounting urgency among progressives to fast-track the low-carbon economy and take action on climate change,even if it means flying over the gas”bridge”to move straight to alternative fuels.
