Gas Industry Frets as Colorado Drilling Oversight Bill Clears Legislature

Colorado's oil and gas producers had little to cheer about after passage of a contentious bill that looks to tighten state and local governance of drilling.But the industry did secure a few revisions that could make the legislation more palatable.Late changes include clarifying language to restrict a municipality's authority to land use within its own borders,softening the bill's forced pooling requirements and adding language aimed at ring-fencing some of the new authority the bill hands to local governments and the Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission(COGCC).
