'Beast’Readied in Alaska

ConocoPhillips and Doyon Drilling are preparing to deploy one of the largest mobile land-based drilling rigs currently in use in North America,and it will be powered by a mix of processed field gas and diesel.Drilling Rig 26,known as The Beast,will be deployed to the North Slope of Alaska.The rig weighs 9.5 million lbs.and has four mud pumps that are each rated at 2,200 horsepower-pumps normally seen on offshore drilling rigs.
