Petronas to Acquire 25% Stake in C$40 Biilion LNG Canada Venture

Malaysian state-owned Petronas is paying billions to become a major stakeholder in Royal Dutch Shell's LNG Canada project in British Columbia Petronas will acquire a 25% stake in the LNG export project, which has an estimated price tag of roughly C$40 billion (US$30 billion). Shell will reduce its ownership from 50% to 40%. The other partners in the project are Korea Gas Corp., which will see its stake drop from 15% to 5%; PetroChina's from 20% to 15%; and Mitsubishi will keep its original 15%.
