EIA Views US Gas Supply, Demand Surging to New Heights Through 2019

Analyzing the Short-Term Energy Outlook (Steo) released last week by the US Energy Information Administration, it's clear that EIA analysts aren't all that bullish on natural gas prices given that surging demand is sure to be met or even offset by hefty gains in supply. Most impressively, US dry gas production, which averaged 73.6 billion cubic feet per day in 2017, is predicted to average 81.1 Bcf/d this year. Put another way, there could be 2.7 trillion cubic feet more gas added to 2017's record tally. And 2019 could see output rise another 1.7 Bcf/d, meaning supplies would grow more than 3.3 Tcf in 2018-19 -and somehow the market is going to have to absorb it.
