Taiwan has made progress leaping some of the hurdles on the path to phasing out nuclear power and plugging the gap with LNG, senior government officials say. Deputy Economic Affairs Minister Kung Ming-hsin reiterated on Apr. 9 that those plans remain on track, with the last of state-owned Taiwan Power Co.'s three reactors, Unit 2 at Maanshan, to shut down in May 2025.
