Ontario, by far Canada's biggest energy-consuming province, has a tangled relationship with the natural gas industry, although it appears the pendulum may finally be swinging in gas' favor as the government struggles to keep a lid on surging power prices. According to a recent study by the Fraser Institute, Ontario residents have some of the highest electricity bills in North America, which poses a risk to the province's economic competitiveness-and the hopes of the current Liberal government getting re-elected next year.
