A group trying to get a drilling setback initiative on the November ballot in Colorado has called it quits even as another group is trying to gather signatures for a measure that would prevent local governments from banning gas use in furnaces, water heaters and other appliances. "In short, Initiative 284 will protect Coloradans from natural gas restrictions and bans," said Protect Colorado, which has gathered more than 100,000 signatures. It must collect another 24,632 signatures by Aug. 3.
