NRC Deems Pipeline Safe

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has ruled that Entergy's Algonquin Incremental Market gas pipeline running near the Indian Point Energy Center in New York is not a threat to the nuclear reactors there. The report, released late last week is a reassessment of a 2014 safety analysis that was declared flawed, determined that because of modern construction and inspection techniques, the pipeline has a small chance of rupture. And even if it were to explode, the location of Indian Point's safety systems sit well outside the range from impacts of projectiles or blast heat.
