摘要

An estimated 21 million people in the United States have diabetes.1 About 20% of these individuals will have a serious foot infection during the course of their disease.2 Some patients will develop chronic nonhealing wounds, which may lead to infection, loss of limb, loss of independent lifestyle, and even loss of life. The maintenance and closure of chronic wounds should be the goal of all wound care specialists.
