Pike River Coal (New Zealand) postpones bringing its coal mine to designed capacity

Australian miner Pike River Coal has revised the schedule of bringing its coal mine, commissioned in January 2010,to designed capacity. The New Zealand mine consists of 2 seams: Brunner (58.5 mt of reserves) and Paparoa(18 mt). Currently the mining in Brunner is performed by traditional means and in Paparoa – by hydromining. Currentlythe mine is capable of producing about 35,000-40,000 tpy of hard coking coal.
