One of my favorite activities is the annual survey of woodland owners across the U.S. as they rank their top ten family forestry issues. NWOA is the only national association to conduct such a survey. We have been doing this since 1986 and this year'srate of return was the highest ever. The votes are cast by the leaders of our 42 affiliated state landowner associations, known as the American Alliance of Landowner Associations. We could not do this without them. The results are published every year in the spring issue of National Woodlands (see p.7). As might be expected with the tremendous variety of forest types throughout the U.S., there is considerable variation by forest eco-zones, but the overall trends are very consistent. This year we are introducing a new discussion structure to help our reaaders better understand the issues. We start with the call-out of the NWOA Objectives on each issue for 2018. This is followed with a discussion of the results for last year, and then our outlook for this year.
