Glass making buildings-Functional,Energy Efficient and Elegant A recent CPWD's prestigious NISM Project at Patalganga,Maharashtra

A building is designed for functional and aesthetic requirements. Energy efficiency is another important factor which has become part of the building design now. Glass plays an important role in aesthetics,functions and energy efficiency. Glass has another beauty that it is compatible to many materials and can also be used alone. Traditionally,it was used with wood and mild steel but now aluminium and stainless steel are being used frequently with glass. Central Public Works Department(CPWD)has recently developed new campus for National Institute of Securities Markets(NISM)in which glass has been used for functional,aesthetic and energy efficiency requirements. The use of glass in the campus is discussed in the paper.
