The failure to correctly analyze the complex deformity that comprises the prominent ear [1] is the most common cause of an unfavorable cosmetic outcome. An accurate diagnosis of each contributing factor is essential to the success of an individualized treatment plan [2]. However, the option to adopt a different approach in each patient endangers the results. Surgical procedures should be uncomplicated, reliable, and adjustable. Thus, a standardized approach that addresses most of the characteristics of prominent ears is appealing because it can ensure predictability and reproducibility.
