Thermal, rheological and mechanical properties of PA6-66 nanocomposites incorporated with montmorillonite (MMT), nanosilica (NS) or their compounds are reported. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) results confirmed the improved exfoliation of MMT with the addition of NS. Rheological results indicated that the filler network was better constructed for PA6-66/MMT/NS compared with that of PA6-66/MMT, giving rise to a more pronounced Payne effect and a non-Newtonian behavior. The MMT presented positive influence upon the crystallization kinetics of PA6-66 compared with NS, and the compound of the two nanofillers showed more significant effect than MMT. Furthermore, the PA6-66/MMT/NS nanocomposites exhibited better mechanical properties than either the neat PA6-66 or the nanocomposites incorporated with sole nanofiller, indicating the presence of synergic effect of the two nanofillers.
