PRODUCE INDUSTRY URGES REVIEW OF ELECTRONIC LOGGING DEVICE MANDATE

The transportation industry plays a vital role in the daily operations of produce businesses. Being able to transport fruits and vegetables in a timely, efficient and safe manner ensures that Americans have access to nutritious produce from all over the country. In the past, a driver's hours-of-service (HOS) time logs have been recorded on paper logs that are then reviewed by an enforcement official. Now however, due to a new Congressional mandate these logs must be recorded in electronic form usingwhat is referred to as an electronic logging device (ELD).
