Neuroectodermal Tumors

Neuroblastoma: Neuroblastoma, a small blue round cell tumor derived from pluripotent sympathetic cells, is the most common extracra-nial solid malignant tumor in infants. Ninety percent are diagnosed before the age of 5 years. As neuroblastoma and ganglioneuroblastoma originate in sympathetic ganglia, they are commonly found in a paramidline position, with the retroperitoneum being the most frequent site followed by the mediastinum and the sacral region. About two-thirds of all cases present clinically as metastatic deposition in the skeleton, lymph nodes, liver, and skin.
