Optimisation of the Compound Quality of CO2-based Rubber Compounds

摘要

To improve the sustainability of rubber products, a new method was developed where CO2 is built into the polymer chain of rubber polymers. With this method it is possible to reduce the CO(2-)footprint by using a production method for rubber that needs fewer resources and by replacing a significant amount of crude oil by using CO2 as a building block for rubber. The newly developed, sustainable CO2-based rubber can be produced on conventional internal mixers, after the optimisation of the polymer and the recipe. Especially talc is suitable to improve the processing of the CO2-based rubber because it reduces the high stickiness of the CO2-based rubber and it improves the mechanical properties of the compound so that they are comparable to conventional rubbers.
