The water connection parts: Before the final assembly of the rear water tanks is carried out the two parts of the water connection need to be made. This means quite large holes to be made in the bunker tank bottom plate and the rear well tank top plate. To begin with, I have shown a picture of my incomplete rear well tank sitting on its supports between the frames. The two visible side brackets sit on frame posts that secure the cab steps and the third bracket is in front of the tank at the base of the rear axle rear spring plate. I have drawn a bold pencil line across the tank top where the rear bunker casing finishes (photo 12). This is actually in line with the rear of the two coupled wheel splashers and the mid-point between this line and the rear of the tank top plate suggests the centre for the water connection assembly. The measurement is close to 1 7/8 inches which should be plenty. So a maximum flange diameter of 1 1/2 inches is practicable to fit inside the two tank edges and this is the size taken for the brass bar used to make the connection parts.
