摘要

In a textile fabric, yarns are not only subjected to longitudinal tension but also transverse compression within the impact zone with ballistic projectiles. This paper focuses on the transverse behaviour of one Kevlar (R) KM2 yarn in microscopic and homogenization scales. The microscopic model of one yarn consisting of hundreds of fibres is conducted with the assumption of 2D plane strain. Then based on the microscopic behaviour, an effective homogenized behaviour law for yarn is obtained using numerical homogenization techniques. The homogenized behaviour law is implemented into ABAQUS/Standard through a user-subroutine and validated by comparing the behaviour of the homogenized yarn with the microscopic one. This law allows more accurate mesoscopic models and the development of an effective homogenized fabric in future works. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
