The exploration of Senegal's promising ofshore acreage gains new impetus with the opening of the country's frst licensing round in January 2020. First production of oil and gas are expected in 2023 and 2022, respectively, incentivising investment in further exploration. Allegations of corruption and lack of transparency risk Senegal's ability to attract investment; however, remedial action on the government's part is already underway.
