CS ethanol production falls 14% in H1 June 2020 America Brazil

Sugarcane crushing in the Centre/South (CS) region totalled 41.740 mln tonnes in the first half of June 2020, down slightly from 42.555 mln in the same period last year, Unica data show. The share of cane used for sugar production surged to 47.11% from 35.69% a year ago. As a result, sugar production rose by 36.3% to 2.549 mln tonnes, tel quel, in the first half of June, up from 1.870 mln a year ago. Ethanol production, in turn, totalled 1.834 bln litres in the period, down from 2.127 bln in the same period last year.
