Aluminium industry took roots in India in early h A h 1930s with the setting up of Crown Aluminium in Asanol, Bengal. The unit was set up basically to produce back-pack crockery and cutlery items for the armed forces of the crown stationed in India and the Far East. Thus, within 30 odd years of aluminium being commercially produced in Europe and Americas, aluminium industry had arrived in the Indian sub-continent.
