Non-ferrous metals industry in India - some random thouahts

Post-independent India was totally depending on imports of non-ferrous metals. Sixties and seventies saw the setting up of public sector units for aluminium, copper, lead & zinc with limited capacities. After the economic liberalization in 1991 as well as disinvestment, a number of private players came up in non-ferrous metals and today India has world-scale capacities in non-ferrous metals.
