A LOOK AT GUATEMALA'S SLOW RECOVERY FROM LEAFRUST

Guatemala's coffee sector seems to have entered a slow recovery from leaf rust as the country's exports rose for the second straight year in 2016/17 (Oct/Sep). In fact, they reached 3.37 mln 60-kg bags in the past season, up from 3.14 mln the year before and compared with as little as 3.00 mln in 2014/15. However, that volume is still below the around 3.7 mln bags the country was shipping each year before it was struck by leaf rust in 2012.
