Peripartum cardiomyopathy

Peripartum cardiomyopathy is abnormal heart muscle function, where the heart chambers enlarge and the muscle weakens, which can lead to heart failure and even sudden death (Givertz 2013). It has a high mortality and morbidity rate (7-50%) (Okeke et al 2013). The incidence worldwide is unknown (Karaye & Henein 2013).
