BARRICK GOLD has agreed to buy Randgold Resources in a deal that will create the largest gold mining company by market capitalization in the world, overtaking Newmont Mining Corp. The new company will have a market value of about $19.4 billion and will own five of the world's lowest-cost gold mines.
