New Finds: Groveling for Gravel from E. W. Heinrich Minerals from Long Valley and Bear Valley, Idaho

Among the many specimens we have acquired over the years, those from the collection of Dr. E. Wm. Heinrich have proven most interesting. Heinrich (1918-1991) was well known and respected as Professor of Mineralogy at the University of Michigan, and he was also Curator of the mineralogical collections there. He authored the first Mineralogy of Michigan, and he was Editor of American Mineralogist and Geochemical News, among other scientific publications. He authored numerous books and articles on petrology, mineralogy, geochemistry and economic mineralogy, and he traveled widely, amassing a collection of some 15,000 specimens during those travels.
