Schiffer's informative Earth Science Monographs series takes a major leap with this book, this latest title extending well-past previous offerings of softcover volumes under 100 pages long. This hardcover work encompasses a significant 240 pages, and it is also authored by Dr. Robert Lauf who wrote most of the earlier books in the Monograph series. This title begins a new Schiffer series, the Silicate Mineralogy Series, and it will undoubtedly be larger and significantly more in-depth than earlier Monographs that dealt with specific mineral groups.
