First Reported Occurrence of Sklodowskite in China - Not!

Sklodowskite, Mg(UO2)2Si2O7 ? 6H2O, was first described in 1924 by Alfred Schoep (schoepite) from material discovered at the Shinkolobwe Mine in what was then the Belgian Congo (once Zaire, now Democratic Republic of the Congo). The bright yellow, acicular micro crystals are attractive under the microscope, and for uranium mineral enthusiasts, it has always been a welcomed addition to their collections.
