Stay of New Source Performance Standards Rule Lifted In recent months, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has encountered difficulties in its efforts to stay the Obama-era new source performance standards (NSPS) for control of methane emissions from the oil and natural gas industries. See Oil and Natural Gas Sector: Emission Standards for New, Reconstructed, and Modified Sources, 81 Fed. Reg. 35,824 (June 3, 2016) (to be codified at 40 C.F.R. pt. 60). As of the date of this writing, the NSPS rule-often referred to as "Quad Oa"-is in effect, but its future is uncertain.
