摘要

Sediment-hosted ore deposits are widespread all over Africa. Many were formed during the Proterozoic (e.g. Central African Copperbelt, Kalahari Mn-fields...). Gabon's sedimentary basins are located around Archean magmatic and metamor-phic rocks. The Proterozoic Francevil-lan Basin in the southeastern part of the country hosts one of the world's famous manganese deposits. Uranium was mined in the same region until 1999.
