Large concentration of acreage between West Branch and St.Helen fields to be offered at Oct.30 state oil and gas lease auction

LANSING,Mich.-A large swath of more than 9,000 acres situated between the prolific West Branch and St.Helen Devonian Dundee,Detroit River and Richfield oil reservoirs in west-central Ogemaw County and east-central Roscommon County will be among the offerings at the upcoming Oct.30,2019 auction sale of oil and gas lease rights to state of Michigan-owned minerals,which will take place at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing.Essentially all of the state-owned minerals in an area stretching nearly 8 miles from east to west by as much as 4 miles from north to south within four townships on either side of the Ogemaw-Roscommon line in Townships T22N & T23N and Ranges R1E & R1W were nominated for inclusion in the second state oil and gas lease auction of 2019 during a May 10 through June 14,2019 nomination period.The total offering of 16,049.61 acres will be the largest to be made available by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources'(DNR)Office of Minerals Management(OMM)since October of 2017,when nearly 30,300 acres were offered.
