Pace of Michigan oil and gas drilling accelerates in second half, still down 20% from 2018

LANSING, Mich. —Drilling was completed on a total of 8 oil and gas holes from Oct. 1 through Nov. 15, 2019 to bring the tally of Michigan oil and gas drilling completions for the first 10.5 months of the year to 39 holes. That total is well off the pace being set during the same period of 2018, when 58 holes were drilled from January through November, on the way to a calendar year total of 61 holes.
