Proposal to Amend the Federal Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (FPLA)

To facilitate the expansion of exports by US manufacturers, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recommends updating the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (FPLA) to create a new package labeling option. The FPLA relates only to the net quantity of contents information on consumer packages, goods, or commodities that are intended for sale in retail stores, such as food or department stores.
