Book review: Metric System Yes, Common Core No

USMA received a copy of a book by Dillon M. Lobban, EdD, titled Metric System Yes, Common Core No: A Letter to American Parents, Educators, and Politicians from a Mathematics Teacher, published in 2016. The book is really about 2 topics, the metric system and common core curricula, both of which the author relates to the poor standing of American students compared to students in much of the rest of the (otherwise metric) world. With the amount of money spent on US education, the author feels that US students would rank much higher if they were properly and consistently taught the metric system and if the metric system were used as the everyday measurement system in America.
